Lush seanik shampoo bar|review

Hello!
How are you?

Today we have a
Seanik solid shampoo Bar review

Ever since I decided to go 'no poo'/ use vegan friendly products, Lush Seanik shampoo bar has been my hair saviour (along with apple cider vinegar as a conditioner) And don't be fooled, it may be called a shampoo bar but it isn't 'shampoo'. It's not got any nasty oil stripping chemicals in it or silicons that make your scalp go crazy trying to replace the oil it has lost (which is why you end up, well I did for so long, washing your hair EVERY day!) It is 100% natural and vegan. Great for the environment (less nasty chemicals, less packaging), great for animals (no testing & vegan) and great for your hair (only has good, natural ingredients that your hair likes!); and you won't need to wash your hair every day for your hair to look good and smell great.

What Lush claim:

'Leaves your hair buoyant
A shampoo bar with seaweed to soften and sea salt to give body.
Our ocean-inspired bar is made with Irish moss and nori seaweed, which give a lovely mineral rich gel that softens the hair.'
Lasts 80-100 washes

Ingredients:
Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Irish Moss Gel, Perfume, Nori Seaweed, Fine Sea Salt, Lemon Oil, Mimosa Absolute, Orange Flower Absolute, Jasmine Absolute, Cocamide DEA, Limonene, Colour 42090

'Featured ingredient'= Nori seed
Nori (Porphyra tenera) or ‘laver’ is classified as red seaweed, but it is bright lavender in the water. When dried, it becomes deep purple to black, but turns green when cooked or toasted. The best quality nori has a deep colour and a brilliant lustre.
So, what do I think?
Longevity: I've been using this for about 4 weeks now. Its shape has become a little deformed because one day I put it straight back in the tin without thinking instead of letting it dry out a little before hand, therefore it took a bit of coaxing out of the tin! However, it's density has not changed and I can't see it running out any time soon.
Cost: £5.50  As with anything, we'd always like it cheaper. However, I don't mind paying 5.50 for shampoo that's going to last me as much as like 30 bottles of shampoo would (no exaggeration :P). Plus, you don't need to use it every day because it is so nourishing and doesn't strip oils. Anyway-it is vegan and environmentally friendly, so in my opinion; it's worth far far more than its price.
Pros: You literally only need to wet it in the shower or bath, then lather a little directly onto your hair or between your palms for a great wash. I remember the first time I used it, it made me feel like my hair had never been properly cleaned before. The difference between the feel of my hair before and after is incredible. My hair feels buoyant, nourished and soft.
  • A little goes a long way
  • Deep clean
  • Buoyant, nourished and soft hair. Gives body & volume.
  • Environmentally friendly
  • Vegan
  • Long lasting
  • Isn't as messy as you'd imagine! No blue showers thank you Lush.

Cons:
  • It does make your hair quite soft. I have a few friends with dreadlocks that couldn't use this however 'Squeaky Green' and 'Karma Komba' seem pretty popular (although I think Karma Komba can also make your hair very soft like Seanik. Apparently it smells amazing though-Karma is there sort of 'signature' scent, so I do definitely want to try it at some point!)
  • Have to let it dry out a little before putting back in packaging (if you have a tin) to not morph the shape/ waste any.
All in all, I'd give the shampoo bar 10/10. I just love it that much!
I'd also like to mention that the staff in the Lush I visit are absolutely lovely; Lush obviously only pick the very best! You can tell they really care about their products and customers.
Darn it, I want a job there now! No wonder they are so nice, imagine working in a place that smelt that good.
P.s If you'd like a shampoo bar recommendation for your hair type, just post a comment below! The lovely sales assistant in Lush went through each bar with me so I'm happy to pass on the knowledge! For instance, Seanik is meant for all hair types, it's their sort of 'all rounder' for voluminous, healthy hair.

    1. Hello Katie! Thank you so much :D As for your question, seanik is a great all rounder and should work well on most hair types. I have thick hair, but thick hair that is prone to getting very oily very quickly! If you're the same, then seanik is for you Although if your hair is more on the dry spectrum than oily, I'd perhaps go with either the ultimate shine bar or Godiva as it has an added conditioner! Good luck! xo

  9. I have been through a few bars of this now! It's by far my favourite Lush shampoo bar! I love the smell, and I love how soft it makes your hair (though I can understand why it wouldn't be good for dreadlocks!).
