An interview with Emma from The Jolly Fashionista

Hello everyone!
Today I'm bringing you another interview, this time with wonderful fashion & lifestyle blogger Emma from The Jolly Fashionista Enjoy!

Hello Emma! I hope you're well!
Thank you so much for agreeing to be interviewed, it’s great to have you over on Head-full-of-flowers! I thought we could start off by you introducing yourself a little to everyone; where you’re from, what you do, your interests, and the story behind your lovely blog The Jolly fashionista!

Hi guys! Firstly, a big thank you to Liz for having me on her blog today! I'm Emma, originally from Scotland, but I have been living in Dorset for over 4 years now. I work as a night carer at a residential home for the elderly and I also run my own fashion blog in my spare time. My interests include blogging, buying new clothes and accessories, watching films, reading other blogs, going for walks, photography and the paranormal! A few years back, I quietly started a blog that focused on all things fashion; fast forward to 2013 and I re-vamped my blog and got serious about blogging; blogging almost daily, introducing beauty, home and lifestyle posts and just bringing that personal touch to my blog. I love it!

I love it too! Now, can you tell us what’s your favourite topic to write about or your favourite kind of post?

My favourite topic to write about is current fashion; in particular, writing my New In This Week posts is my favourite as I get to browse loads of lovely clothes and accessories all in one day!

Haha fashion blogger heaven! What’s your favourite post of yours so far and why?

I don't really have a favourite post in particular, but recently I have really enjoyed writing a series of Christmas gift idea posts. It's fun to browse all the great gifts and it's nice to think that I may give someone some gift inspiration!

Your gift guides are great! Now, I've seen on your blog that you’re engaged! Congratulations! Do you plan on writing wedding related posts?

Thank you so much! I have been toying with the idea, and yes, I do plan to start posting about some wedding topics.

I can't wait! Can you tell us, what are your top three blogs to read?

What Liz Loves - I love reading Liz's blog daily. Liz is really friendly, has great fashion sense and always makes me laugh as she has a great sense of humour!
Miss Budget Beauty - I love Khila's writing style and enjoy reading her honest reviews. She keeps me in the know about new beauty products and I enjoy the variety of her posts.
Wendy's Lookbook - I love looking at Wendy's beautiful daily outfits and lusting over her designer wares. She has great style and seems to live a pretty exciting and interesting life!

Great picks! What can’t you leave the house without?

I can't leave the house without my phone; I feel lost without it!

Just like me! Now, what’s your wardrobe and vanity case must-haves/staples?

My wardrobe staples are my black skinny jeans as you can pair them with almost anything and dress them up or down, and my tartan dress with leggings and boots as it's an easy to wear outfit.

My vanity case must-haves are a good lip gloss (like Barry M's Lip Gloss in Toffee), a stippling brush (mine is from MUA), a selection of perfumes (my faves are J'adore by Dior and Lovely by SJP) and a good hand cream (everyone should own a tube of Hand Food by Soap & Glory).

Lovely choices! Can you tell us, what's your favourite book/film?

Currently, my favourite book is Before I Go To Sleep by S.J. Watson which I read recently. I also love all of Stuart Macbride's books which are all set in Scotland - mostly in and around Aberdeen, where I'm from!
Currently, my favourite movie is Gravity which I watched recently at the cinema and I thought it was amazing! I also have a great love for the Harry Potter series.

I'm a bit of a Harry P fan myself! Can you advise us, what four beauty related things do you think girls should do religiously?

You should always remove you make-up before bed, always carry a decent lip balm with you in Winter, keep your hands well-moisturised during Autumn and Winter to avoid them breaking down and remember to give your skin some days off from make-up!

Some fantastic advice. I definitely agree, it's good to give your skin some time to breathe! Now, can you tell us, Where do you see your blog in a year? Do you have any special posts coming up?

I hope to see my blog continuing to be successful, bringing in more readers and hopefully getting the opportunity to collaborate with brands and review some free PR samples!
I do have a couple of special post series coming up; one is a diary which will fall into the Travel/Lifestyle category and my personal wedding posts will be special to me.

I'm really looking forward to reading them! Lastly, if you could give one piece of advice to aspiring bloggers, what would it be?

Have patience and give your readers variety. A few years back, I used to stop and start writing my blog because I thought no-one read it. Once you get past caring about that, you'll find yourself enjoying blogging much more and will soon see your number of followers building up!

Thank you so much Emma for agreeing to be interviewed, it's been lovely getting to know you a little better.

As you can see, Emma has some really great posts lined up so make sure you go check out her awesome blog The Jolly Fashionista

We hope you enjoyed this interview. I'm planning on interviewing many more bloggers as it's a great way to get the word out about their awesome blogs and get to know the amazing bloggers behind them a bit better! If you're a blogger and are interested in becoming an interviewee or would like to guest post on Head-full-of-flowers, please do contact me via the contact page or tweet me @Liz___zie as I'd love for you to be involved!
Until next time, L xo
