Hello! How are you?
Today I have another interview for you, this time with the lovely Alexi from AlexiMetalPirate, a genre-less blogger whom I'm sure you're going to love.
Hi Alexi, I hope
you're well!
Thank
you so much for agreeing to be interviewed, it’s great to have you over on
Head-full-of-flowers! I thought we could start off by you introducing yourself
a little to everyone; where you’re from, what you do, your interests, and the
story behind your lovely blog Alexi Metal Pirate.
Hey guys! As Lizzy has just said I’m AlexiMetalPirate a genre-less
blogger from South East England who blogs about things that interest me, and
hopefully some of you lot…if not I may be able to win you over with pug pictures!
I’m currently studying science in the hopes of one day being able to put fancy
letters after my name. When I’m not crying into my chemistry textbook I enjoy
being a full time pug mummy, blogger, moomin obsessive and food eater…perfectly
normal pastimes! I actually started beauty blogging in 2009! Sadly I took a
break from the internet and closed down my blog a year in *sad face*. However,
I’m now back with a new domain, fresh look & blogging about things that
excite me (being a very excitable person this is a very long list) and I really
hope people like and embrace the changes I’ve made to my blog <3
I love your blog!
And who can resist cute pug pictures?! So, can you tell us, what’s your
favourite topic to write about or your favourite kind of post?
I love just writing about my day to day life, not only do they come
really naturally to me in terms of writing but it serves as a personal diary so
I can look back what I’ve done with my life…and reassure myself that I’m not
wasting it away ;)
I love that, ‘personal diary’! What’s your favourite post of yours so
far and why?
That would probably be either my WoP video shoot post or my “Where have
you been Missy” post; the former because it was the first time I’d done
anything like that and I’m so happy to have documented it. The latter because I
wrote it at a time of self-discovery where I was just coming out of a dark
place and I feel it really reflects on the life lessons I learnt in that time
which is always a helpful thing to share.
Definitely, you can learn so much from others. It’s really amazing that
you were willing to share such a personal post with your readers. What are your
top three blogs to read?
That’s a pretty tough one actually! But I think I’m going to have to go
with “TheDiaryOfAPoorGirl”, “Kerralina” and “Olivia Emily”
Great picks! I saw on your blog that you were recently part of a
re-shoot of Wings of Pegasus music video (as you mentioned previously) ‘That’s
metal’; can you tell us a little bit about the video and what was your favourite
thing about being part of it?
The video is going remake of their old video that was created before the
X-factor stunt which if you haven’t already seen you can find on YouTube. I’d
been following Fil on twitter for a long time so when he was looking for people
to join in I jumped on the opportunity and as I spend a lot of my time in
London it wasn’t too far out of the way. The shoot was amazing Fil and the
whole crew were lovely and the video comes out in 2014 as part of a campaign so
keep an eye out for it! As far as my favourite thing about it goes I think it
was probably seeing the looks of shock, confusion…and quite possibly horror, of
everyone in Piccadilly that day who had no idea what was going on and were in
awe of the shirtless man jumping about in a fountain.
Haha that’s hilarious! I’m sure I wouldn't have been able to resist joining in! Can you
tell us, what can’t you leave the house without?
Well there’s the obvious phone & keys but no one really wants to
hear that so I’m going to say my little Moomin key charm. He’s a tiny cuddly
toy who’s my traveling companion and he goes everywhere with me!
That’s adorable! What’s your wardrobe and vanity case
must-haves/staples?
Wardrobe essentials are skater dresses and anything tartan (I’m going
through a bit of a phase) and my vanity would have to be waterproof liquid
eyeliner, it’s a godsend in a pot!
Can you share with us, what's your favourite book/film?
I love films like Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit, but my favourite
film(s) of all time are 10 Things I Hate About You & About Time (I couldn't just choose one, they’re too good). Bookwise I really like
girly easy reads like the Confessions of a Shopaholic series.
I’m obsessed with LOTR and 10 things I hate about you. Fantastic
choices! What kind of music are you into?
As the name of my blog suggests I used to be really into the metal
scene, nowadays I listen to most things but I still tend to sway towards rock
and metal genres. With my favourite musicans being HIM, Red Jumpsuit Aperatus,
Bon Jovi and Adam Lambert.
Can’t beat a bit of Bon Jovi. Can you advise us, what four beauty
related things do you think girls should do religiously?
The first thing that comes to my mind is smell good, be it wearing
perfume, body sprays or even just making sure you shower daily! Likewise
freshly washed hair is always good, don’t have time for that? Dry shampoo is a
godsend my friend! With the obvious ones out of the way I also think having
well groomed eyebrows goes a long way, as well as taking off your nail varnish
when it starts chipping and not leaving it hanging about half on your pinkie
for two weeks.
Great advice, I’m terrible at leaving chipped nail varnish on! Where do
you see your blog in a year? Do you have any special posts coming up?
Hopefully still active and thriving, I hope to of picked up a few more
followers by then but it’s not the end of the world if I don’t! I’m also hoping
my writing improves as when I speak to someone verbally I talk really really
fast and sometimes this comes through in my writing (punctuation woman)! I’m at
a time in my life where so much is going to change in the next year it’s
impossible to say what’ll happen but hey that’s part of the magic! As for posts
I plan on bringing back more Tubs features…who doesn't love a fat pug!
Sounds great and I am definitely look forward to more cute pugs! And
lastly, if you could give one piece of advice to aspiring bloggers, what would
it be?
Blog about what you want to blog
about and not what’s on trend. Don’t feel that you need to be a
beauty/lifestyle/fashion blogger because that’s where the followers are, do
things your way get involved with the blogging community and you’ll be just
fine. Make sure you’re writing excites you because if you’re not that into it
chances are other people won’t be either!
